Friends Donate Adult Seating for Our Library

A chair!

The Friend’s mission to find chairs for adult seating has come to fruition. After careful deliberation, including learning about the downfalls of “bonded” leather, we settled on these comfortable chairs which hopefully will stand the rigors of hard use and the test of time.

About the chairs? They have a 500 pound weight limit, so feel free to bring a spouse or friend to sit on your lap and really test them out.

The journey of these chairs has been dark and mysterious.

The logistics to get them to the floor has been a feat of mental and emotional strength. Is everyone involved unscathed? No, but trauma bonding really does bring a group together.

The sprawling metropolis of De Soto had somehow eluded the first of three FedEx drivers and delivery one of three is now possibly in Pond 3, or as far away as Canada, we may never know. The second delivery was left at a residence up the road and on the other side of Main St, and only found their way home by chance.

Visualize our dear friend and volunteer Lauren bolting out of the De Soto Public Library at 4:15 pm on a sunny, beauty of a day to stand in the middle of Houghton Street to stop the third Fed Ex delivery truck with her bare hands if necessary (she may have been a little hangry by then since they were due to arrive between 9am and 1pm).

Regardless, thanks to the efforts of all involved, the library now has four brand new, immensely comfy chairs for adult visitors to enjoy when they drop by.

So, please take the time to come in, bring your laptop and work for awhile or just sit and relax with a good book.
